Got sandbagged by 4 whites at the same time at about 10:00. Had one hooked on a lure with J hook and gave it to my wife in the chair while I tried (by myself which sucked) to bait the other 3. Forgot that the wife had a standup rod and forgot to flip the gimbal up in the chair so she couldn't reel and her fish jumped off, just too much going on. Later had a huge explosion on the GM spreader bar I was running as a teaser (dammit!) and had a fish grab the long rigger dink with a circle and 80# flouro. Mom fought the fish like a champ on the little rod but when I grabbed the leader it got wrapped around the tip of my thumb (gloves were too big for my circus midget hands). I got a good look at the fish and realized I had my first bigeye which I've been patiently awaiting for at least 15 years. My snell came undone and he was goneHad two more white bites and missed them both on circles. I gotta go on one of these trips with Franky or Bill and figure this crap out. Bigeye hit within 100 yds. of where the 4 whites came up at once. In about 150 fathoms north of the washington. No bait, no birds, no whales, nothing. Have no idea why those fish were there. Girls had a good time though. Dad and I just stared at each other on the ride home trying to figure out what the hell had just happened. Starting to believe that I belong on the bridge and not in the cockpit anymore
