    Poor Girl's Report from Saturday

Got sandbagged by 4 whites at the same time at about 10:00. Had one hooked on a lure with J hook and gave it to my wife in the chair while I tried (by myself which sucked) to bait the other 3. Forgot that the wife had a standup rod and forgot to flip the gimbal up in the chair so she couldn't reel and her fish jumped off, just too much going on. Later had a huge explosion on the GM spreader bar I was running as a teaser (dammit!) and had a fish grab the long rigger dink with a circle and 80# flouro. Mom fought the fish like a champ on the little rod but when I grabbed the leader it got wrapped around the tip of my thumb (gloves were too big for my circus midget hands). I got a good look at the fish and realized I had my first bigeye which I've been patiently awaiting for at least 15 years. My snell came undone and he was gone Had two more white bites and missed them both on circles. I gotta go on one of these trips with Franky or Bill and figure this crap out. Bigeye hit within 100 yds. of where the 4 whites came up at once. In about 150 fathoms north of the washington. No bait, no birds, no whales, nothing. Have no idea why those fish were there. Girls had a good time though. Dad and I just stared at each other on the ride home trying to figure out what the hell had just happened. Starting to believe that I belong on the bridge and not in the cockpit anymore

Wow, sounds like you had some excitement and some heartbreak as well. Part of the fun is in the bites though- glad you saw some.

I could teach you all I know about circle hooks in a matter of seconds, but if you ever want to stop by for a quick primer, would be glad to assist.

I appreciate it Franky and I'm going to take you up on that offer. Interesting fact, John Yost told me that whites would never come up on the flatlines on that boat and he didn't know why. Well, first trip of the year I hit a sandbar in the dark and messed up the nibrals real bad (you know they needed some work anyway). Put on the spares that Joe had given me which are a bit smaller but pitched higher. Best $1,800 mistake I ever made

Sounds like you were just outside of us. We went 1-3 on whites & 1-1 on blues right on the edge. All bites between 9:00-10:30am. Hell of a bite, then it just shut off.

OUCH!!! I was out there on the Covert Mission (but further North) for the CM Club's Ladies' Day. Day started strong and than got really quiet.

Yes, it could've been better for you, but sounds like your ladies saw some cool things & had a great time!!!

    Thumbs up

My wife fished on PRESS TIME with capt luke blume. They saw 5 whites 2 hooked up but came loose. They ended up catching and releasing 2 blue marlins. That was a first for luke 2 blues in one day. She had an awesome time with luke and jason. They are a first class boat

You Better I've got the 2009 spread down to a tee so you don't need to worry about that, just need your magic touch on the hook-up. Oh, and someone who knows how to actually clean a boat would help too
