took the boat out of the water and figured out the problem.....

the motor well on the starboard side had basically a one inch hole in the motor well tube. it had dry rotted and was just letting water in like crazy. i have been told it will be a minor repair. turns out it was not the leaking sea **** that caused the main problem...

I aglad it was not the seacock- Capt. radcliffe would haqve never heard the end of it.

And it is probably a real simple repair- most times they are.

You will be back out slaying the fish in no time guys!!!

why would anyone put themselves in the situation to completely rely on a mechanically operated bilge pump? Anyone ever heard of Murphy's law for Christ sake???! Every single boat heading offshore should have a healthy assortment of wooden plugs and the necessary tools in the event of an emergency.a small piece of plywood , a could of pegs/plugs, some screws and a cordless drill could save your life and your boat in the event of a puncture or a faulty fitting

BH20B- This is precisely why I encouraged some conversation on the problem these folks had- they remedied their situation and got home safely, and now it makes others more aware that it can happen. brad and Jake are young men who were out fishing with their fathers and another "old" man (sorry Boz- Jim and Billy) Billy (Brad's dad) Relayed the story to me at the Marlin Club on Sunday night and i thought it would be good to bring up here for people to learn from it. I am sure Brad and Jake did. Hopefully others on the site will too.

All of the tools, spares and "what ifs" on my boat probably cost me a knot. Whould hate to ever say "I wish I had a..." in an emergency though. (Note to self - need a piece of plywood!)

Damn, my cover has been blown. I told the decal shop to make those stickers really small. That boat was my top secret weapon to make it 100 miles to the marlin this year in front of everyone else!

In all seriousness.....Jake, pretty work on the blues. Wanna try them with the 13 wt?
