Go to GloucesterTimes.com and put the article refering to additional signer's of the Jones Act (Bill?) against catch shares. Many up and down the Coast, including the Gulf Coast are signing on. The Lubicenco crowd is spending hundred's of thousand's of dollar, greasing the palm's of lobbiest's trying to get this stopped (against us). Look and see if YOUR Representative has signed on, if they haven't pick up the phone and demand, WHY NOT?????
By the way for you NC guy's on here, I called Kay Hagan's office the day of this original post and talked with here rep, that was familuar with the catch shares debate. She told me that she thought Ms. Hagan was on board with Walter Jones, but couldn't state her position for sure. She told me that she would call me back after asking Ms. Hagan, well so far the phone hasn't rung!!! Walter Jones office (Joshua Bowlen was who I spoke with) has been very free with information. This WILL NOT go awa, unless WE make it GO AWAY! The "special interest's" have way more money to through at the "machine", out Senator's control the purse string's. Make them shut the purse! Remember, "I Fish, I VOTE" !!!!! Come on guy's it's your future that's at stake here!!! Frank

I'd say it is easier than posting a pic, but this is a pretty serious issue...
As for Kay Hagan, I haven't seen her voting record, but this article indicates she is pro-fishing...http://hagan.senate.gov/newsletter/NCFishermen.html

One more very important note - Where do you think EDF gets it's Funding? 3.7 M in funding last year from the Walton Family Foundation - That's right - Your friendly neighborhood Walmart is trying to stop you from fishing - If you have any doubt, go to the Foundation's Donations page and look. http://waltonfamilyfoundation.org/me...grants-by-area

I posted about Kay Hagan simply because I have recieved a straight forward answer from the other's I asked. They (Hagan's staff) could not tell me, but took my number ansd said they would call me back about confirmation. I guess I shouldn't expect the folk's that WE pay, to do as they say they'll do. Thank's for helping me out with the post. Frank
According to the "Glouchestertimes", the Senate shot down the Bill to cut funding for the Catch Share issue. The Obama Administration, headed by Ms. Lubicenco is gonna shut all of out. You right to fish is gonna go to the "highest bidder". I'm telling you guy's, get off your butt's and get on the phones. Yes this can happen!!!! Frank

Subject: Voluntary IFQ Outreach docs
The South Atlantic Fishermen's Association (SAFA) has designed a Voluntary IFQ for the South Atlantic snapper grouper fishery that they plan to propose at the December Council meeting during the public comment session on Tuesday night. The Voluntary IFQ was designed entirely by South Atlantic snapper grouper fishermen. We have attached the outreach documents used to tell non-SAFA fishermen about the proposal and see if they were interested to this email. We have 36 permit holders at this time who would like to have the option to sign on to a voluntary IFQ. We expect more to sign on as we continue to reach out to permit owners. We have thus far only presented these ideas to fishermen that showed past interest in IFQs.
There were three design ideas proposed to fishermen using an introductory letter and FAQ sheets. One is for a Voluntary IFQ for a handful of mid-shelf species (pages 1-5 in the attached pdf document) in the Carolinas and Georgia. The second is for golden tilefish (pages 6-10). The third is for a handful of deepwater species in Monroe County (pages 11-15. The regional aspects of the proposed programs simply reflect the areas fished and species caught by Board members and other fishermen that designed the Voluntary IFQ. The fishermen would like for fishermen in all states to have a Voluntary IFQ option. On Tuesday of next week, SAFA Board members will ask the Council to consider pursuing an amendment for a Voluntary IFQ. Details are provided in the attached document and more will be provided during the presentation.
Thank you for your hard work and commitment to preserving our fisheries and we look forward to speaking with you all next week.
