Playa Del Carmin.... Who's got some info for me?

My wife and I are heading down in a few weeks and I would love to do some fishing while I am down there. She will not be fishing with me so I will be going it alone.

What are they catching now and how should I go about finding a boat? Since I will be fishing by myself I don't want to spend an obscene amount of money and have no problem fishing on a smaller boat.

Can not comment on what is biting at this time. I have only been to to Playa del Carmen once. Fished with Capt. Ricks in Puerto Aventuras which is south. Click here for link to their site.
Nothing fancy. OK boats and tackle and affordable. I would recomend a rental car as things are pretty spread out.

Went down there last year around this time not much on the fishing front I tried very hard to convince myself to go but all they were catching this time of year is trash fish (a few kings, baracuda). The locals down there will be fairly straight with you, just ask around. My advice sit by the pool and drink. You have to check out coco bongos one night its wild.

Wow!!! Sounds like a great day. I am still looking for my first Wahoo and would love to get it in FEB!!! A couple of sailfish wouldn't suck either. Thanks for the info. I will be doing a bunch of diving while I'm down there as well. I really hate wishing my life away.... but I sure do wish I was leaving the cold and snow tomorrow!
