The 27th Annual Pirate's Cove World Class Billfish Tournament started today with 69 boats and crew headed for the open seas in hopes of catching the winning fish and the six figure prize.
The big question today as the boats head out of Oregon Inlet for day one of the 27th Annual Pirates Cove Billfish Tournament is North or South.
For several weeks there have been good numbers of sailfish in the area south of Cape Hatteras and to the north the white marlin fishing has been heating up. Time will tell as the boats come back in to report their catch which way was the best call.
The weather today is hot, but the winds are light and the fishing should be great. Lines come out of the water at 3 pm so the boats should be back at the dock starting around 5 pm.
The Pirates Cove Big Game Tournaments is proud to be working with local charities to raise money for their causes. Thanks goes out to all of the participants sponsors and volunteers who help make this event possible. We have earned over $20,000.00 so far this week for these groups. Come by, help out and buy a ticket to win a new Harley Davidson Electra Glide to help benefit the Billfish Foundation.
