Pics - Doubles and triples of Bluefins!

fished with Gunnar on the Dawg Haus in 40 fathoms of the baltimore. we fished the first break and had them snapping from the go. Caught 11 before 9:00am and the moved out the 500 looking for whitey. No love but did pull off a small yellowfin. Also had a huge screamer amongst an enormous pod of frothing two-tones. Unbelievable when we got back the B/W squidnation big heavy/ballyhoo combo it was completely untouched. NOT A KNICK ANYWHERE. our thoughts were we either snagged or wrapped a two-tone. Then we had a mystery bite on the same bait in the long rigger position that was completely stripped of bait. no one saw the bite but did see a pod of flyers blow up at the bite. Also got bitten off by something probably a mako. Went back inside to end the day and the bluefins were still hungry. Could have caught 100 but had to put in an effort for that first whitey.

The Squidnation bars were on fire. we had a few ballyhoo out there but as david said in another post these fish were all about the plastic today. Out of 25 bites we had 2 ballyhoo bites and 23 bar or chain bites. Most of the squidnation bars and chains had green machine hooked baits. We were out in the Baltimore yesterday, as well. Man, those BFT were hungry! We started in the Poorman's & trolled up to the Baltimore. It was a boring AM, but the PM was CRAZY. Birds, slicks, whales, & porpoise all over the place. We found the BFT in tight with the whales.

Been watching this water for a while now. Glad someone got out to fish it and it looks like you couldn't have picked a better day weather wise. Congrats and thanks for reporting.

    Wow!

I would love to join you....But you will never guess where the Mercury's are again! Thats right in the shop! Every year either July or August thats where they end up. This year I just happened to catch 3 new issues before they stirred the water. So we will see. Oh BTW the boat does not get out of the shop untill Nov/Dec every time!
