Please....Great Whites are pussies when you consider how big they are...and I promise I know, we hooked them all time at guadelupe, like hooking a beetle. Volkswagon, I mean, but # 4 # I would say false albacore or bonita for us. Jack Crevalle would take second. For short burst I would say Mangrove or Dog Snapper.

I can vouch that great whites are pussies... I caught two in South Africa before they decided to make them a watch only game. Both on 50w stand up with 80 lb and both in under an hour. Biggest damn fish I ever cranked in but not much pound for pound tenacity.
I have watched even little bitty swords blend customer after customer to the gunwale and dump half spools on the same reel. I guess its them that get the nod. Close second is a big eye. I have had 30 circle tug of wars that went for hours with those miserable butterballs.
Little tunny can't be overlooked nor even the southern skipjacks... Pound for pound they do put on a good game...

Snapp and I got our a*$es handed to us last spring by a 400+ thresher. Mr shark taught us a lot a valuable lessons, including, "thou shalt not fish short handed." I've found one pic of a fish hanging that I immediately thought was the size of the fish we had on. It was 468, and two dudes landed it in under 2 hours. (that was great for the ego! ) In my humble and limited opinion, I couldn't imagine 6.5 hours of my life spent with anything stronger.
