Panama Vs. Costa Rica
Best chance for fish, good charters, etc. Any help would be great, thanks. Don't know much about sportfishing in either Panama or Costa Rica. |

In July, Bermuda is hard to beat for Marlin and its close and its not a 3rd world country, the girls will like it , the place has class. Don't get me wrong, I love Costa Rica in the winter, but if it were my choice I'd go to Bermuda in July over Costa Rica or Panama any day

I would definitely choose Panama over Costa Rica, period. Unless your target is sailfish (which Panama has plenty of its just not the primary species targeted normally) I would fish Panama. The people are good in both places but Panama has better fishing for Blue and Black marlin.
Tropic Star is a great lodge and operation but I would look into staying somewhere in the Golfo de Chiriqui during that time of year. Panama sportfishing lodge, Cebaco bay, Big game fishing lodge and Paradise lodge are all great lodges to stay at and have access to more sports than Tropic Star. I am writing this as I sit in the Tocumen airport in Panama City after an 8 day fishing trip during which we caught 5 blues, 1 black, dorado and tuna. Not to mention that when we fished for inshore stuff it was wide open for almost everything other than roosterfish. We fished Hannibal, Montuosa, Jicaron/Jicarita, all places lodge boats from that region can get you to. |

If in Bermuda, you need to go ahead and fish with the guy that just posted before me. Capt. James Robinson will find them if they are around.
As to Costa and Panama, it depends on the targeted species. www.billfishreport.com |

Panama for sure. Los suenos is kinda slow in the summer, plus it's the rainy season then so sometimes you have to run far to get clean blue water. All the rivers mess up the water with all the run off.
