Here's a breakdown for the week for Pacifico, a 33' Blackfin FB that runs out of Puerto Vallarta. Captain is Manny Ocaranza, a 4th generation local fisherman. Our fishing grounds are 36 and 50 miles out from our marina, and our trips are generally at least 12 hours, we don't do the inshore tourist stuff of 6 and 8 hours. The water here now is significantly warmer than usual and what we are getting now is not typical for this time of year, we look to be at least a month early for what we're hooking.
Manny and gang loaded up today. 16 tuna up to 160lbs. Manny, Juan Pablo, Mitchell, Abel, Javier and Luis. That's a lot of beef to put on a little boat. The avets got a good workout.
After Tuesdays' tuna carnage, I rolled in expecting instant gratification for Thursdays' trip. What we got was a little bit of the lunar finger. A small tuna and a 25lb dodo was Drew's result.
Friday was a different story, as Manny pulled off the structure and laid down an epic day by finding the offshore motherlode and calling in some amigos. Blue marlin, striped marlin, dorados, and tuna. Multiples of everything. Awesome day.
