P.I.S.T 2009

the phuket-international-sportfishing-tournament 2009 closed with a bang.

day 1
15 boats started at chalong bay at 8am sharp, reports over the radio where slow in the morning but later in the afternoon wahoos start to bit and most of the boats scored.
4 strike from sails and 1 from marlin where reported with only one sail released, wahoos and dorados where weight in and the team from reely nauti scored highest with 115 points, followed by the team midnight sun from finland with 76 points and 3rd team came from denmark the danish viking with 72 points.

day 2
where a bit slow with 4 sails teased, but none where hooked.
again the team nauti boys 09 from reely nauti scored high with 7 dorados and nine wahoos and sacked 210 solid points to make there way, 2nd team on day 2 where from italy, team mario with 60 point and 3rd was team danish viking again with 36 points, closing in to the tournament leading team.

day 3
where hot, radio calls coming in with raised sails and marlin, first released marlin of the tournament from the finnish team, released sail from fish eagle a team from hongkong.
second released marlin call came in just 30min before closing time from the german team bode.de. some of the calls get mixed up true the heat and excitment, so we had to wait until all boats where in.

the first sight at the weight station where some dancing finns, and i tell you guys, if you ever seen 370 pound of living finn dancing, this is something that will stick to your mind forever. watching there pics of the catch on day 3 we know something will change very quick on the leader board, the finns released 1 marlin early morning, went true the day with some tunas, king mackeral and dorados. on there way back to the weight station they hooked up and released another sail.
as they had not scored on day 2 at all we had to wait until the nauti boys 09 are back.
meanwhile the other released marlin where anounced for team bode.de wich brought them up to rank 2, but just for a short time.
the nauti boys where back with big hope's, fishing for the 3rd year the P.I.S.T.
after all weigh in where done, we had again 370 pound bally dance, the team midnight sun made it with just 14 points. scoring a total of 409 point, second the nauti boys 09 with 395 point and third the german team bode.de with 303 points.

Thanks for the report Uwe, what a finnish (pun intended) this guy was a real winner & sportsman and his winning dance showed it all, hope someone had it on video!
Great to see the billfish active on the last day & look forward to next year.
