Owner Circle Hook Issues

All summer we have been using Owner SSW 7/0 circle hooks and they have worked great. This week durring the WMO we started to notice the points on the barbs were comming off the hooks while we were using them. Im not talking 1 or 2 hooks but every single one we put in the water was missing the barb within a few hours. Is anyone else having this problem with them?

They make a long shank J we use for charter and fun fishing thats the shizzle usually but this year we had the same thing happen. I had heard of points before but this was barbs on both 9/0 and 11/0... I'm with you a bunch of ???????

None of the owners we used this week had issues (8/0) but again we only pitched a few times. The one white we pulled off I didn't examine the rig. Its in my junk pile on the boat and when I head back down I'll take a look...
I was using mustad on the smaller dinks we used for some dolphin and one was all bent up after unhooking without very much pressure...

Did the whole barb break off? I'm also wondering how much the barb comes into play with circles. Capt Archer always writes about mashing the barbs on all his circles.

No, but almost all of it came off, leaving the barb pretty much useless.

Half of the barb was comming off and it was enough to allow the hooks to fall out of the swivel so we were loosing baits on a regular basis.
