left indian river at 2 (supposed to leave at noon but had engine problems!) got out started trolling around 5, nothing all afternoon laid overnight at about 11 had a 200 blue shark come and bite the chum bucket, i grabbed a hunk of bluefish on a shark rig on a bent butt 80, stuck in front of his face and he grabbed it and i freespooled the 80 for about 5 seconds and grabbed it and whacked him! i pulled it on him!! he came back! i stuck it in his face and he ate it and i dumped the 80 for 15 seconds! kept it in the holder and slammed on the drag and hooked him!
released him, about 45 minutes later i caught and released another one! a different one a lot bigger! sorry didnt take any pics. then about an hour the shark rod goes off!! i didnt know what it was until he broke surface ANOTHER BLUE SHARK! so i brought him up and me and brad were the only ones awake, haha we had A LOT of fun trying to get him off! and i broke off one on my tuna rod. the night went on! at day break our deep i mean 400 feet deep rod went off! started cranking it in and it was a snag)what we thought) i knew it couldnt have been bottom so we look back and see 2 markers, it was a long line! we backed down and brought this long line up and pulled the hook on it. we had a boy withiin 2 miles of us all night, it was the longliner. started trolling again,
about 4 hours go by and SNAP! my left long rigger clip went off, that rod went over and the drag started screaming! rob starts fighting this and i look back (it was on the surface) and its smashing water and i see a stick, like a bill, and i scream "its a billfish!!!!!" within a minutes all the lines are out of the water and we cranking on the fish, it wasnt fighting so i thought it was a little white marlin, i look back and this thing is brown! im like what the hell? why is it brown? i keep thinking.... the water temp is 63! its about 30 feet away and it comes out of this wave and its a piece of a ladder!
keep on trolling, pick up at about 3 and head for masseys for bluefin, got there trolled for 2 hours, had birds everywhere and 3 scallop boats.NOTHING.
took it to the barn!
at night there was no bait! i had 3 flying fish come up and i killed one with a gaff! thats it.
oh sorry i missed it but we fished the baltimore and the highest the temp got to was 73 degrees.
we were so worryed we deep drop for tilefish, nothing!
