Overnight Billfish Tournament - Ocean City, NJ

The 31st Annual Ocean City Overnight Billfish Tournament is less than two weeks away. Wanted to update everyone on the new dates and locations. This year we've moved the tournament back a couple of weeks. New dates are August 11th to 16th with the Captain's Meeting / Kickoff Dinner taking place on August 10th at the Ocean City Yacht Club. With fuel prices affecting us all, this is clearly one of the most fuel efficient tournaments on the east coast. 27 hours of fishing with only one trip out and back.

The Ocean City Marlin & Tuna Club invites you to join us for the 31st Annual Overnight Billfish Tournament. Boats will compete for over $50,000 in cash and prizes plus additional Calcutta winnings, which totaled over $30,000 in 2007. This event will start Sunday August 10th, 2008 and run through Saturday August 16th, 2008.

We will again offer a flexible format, allowing boats to leave any inlet between and including Barnaget Inlet south to Cape May, NJ. This year the Captains Meeting / Kickoff Dinner will take place at the Ocean City Yacht Club and will feature an open bar. Fishing will be Captain’s choice of one of the five following nights after the Captains Meeting. Boats may leave anytime after 5:00 AM, fishing from 8:00 AM until 11:00 AM the following morning, at which time fishing will cease.

The weigh-in will be held at Sunday Harbor in Ocean City between 2nd & 3rd Streets. (Look for the purple house.) The scales will be open at 1:00 PM and will close at 4:00 PM each day. This is an exciting time so have your friends and family come down to see your catch!

The Tournament will come to a close on Saturday August 16th with an Awards Barbeque and Cocktail Party at The Harbor House, 2nd and Bay Ave. Ocean City, NJ. If you have any questions, please contact Tournament Chairman Brian Logue at (609) 827-0820 or Jack Davidson
    at (856) 982-5250.

    Thumbs up

Good luck to everyone participating this year! I'm lucky enough to be invited to be a part of this by the Covert Mission crew from Canyon Club. This will also be my first overnighter and am excited to see what it's like out there @ night.

I'll post some pics and report when we get back on Wednesday.

Good luck again to everyone and stay safe!!!!

Something like 25 boats went today so we should have a bunch of boats weighing in tomorrow in Ocean City, NJ. If you're interested in stopping by the scales are open from 1:00 - 4:00 PM at Sunday Harbor, on Bay Ave. between 2nd & 3rd.
