Over Under Adventures - Tuna & Wahoo in San Salvador

    San Salvador Fishing Report

This just in from Joe and Thomas:

Fishing so far this year has been very erratic. It started out very good with wahoo then slowed to just ok fishing last week with a pick of yellowfin , dolphin and some smaller wahoo last week. Bottom fishing for snapper has been excellent everyday with yelloweyes , buttons and black snapper. This week we expected great fishing with the falling moon and were greeted yesterday with excellent fishing with 5 yellowfins (biggest 56lbs) and 2 wahoo (76 and 64 lbs). Today we expected the same but was alot slower with just a bunch of small tuna. Back at it tomorrow . Hottest bait for both the yellowfins and wahoo has been a 2 lb trolling weight with a 20 foot shock leader followed by 130 lb mono with a horse bally (blue and white islander on top).

Just got a call from my buddy Rick who fished the last three days down there....slow one day, next it was pretty hot then slow again the last day. Weighed one hoo that was 100 lbs with it's tail bit off to it's asshole.....I can't fricken wait to go down there! Lost and even bigger one on a trap after something ate the trap while hooked up.....Thanks for the report above, it's getting me even more jacked! Are the small ones blackfins or yellowfins?

Good deal. glad to see the fishing turning on. Recieved an email from Thomas a week or so ago and he sounded like he wasnt pleased with the fishing down there, so good news. Hows the leg? He get that hook he had in there all healed up?
