Well, I wish I had better news to report, but things are not what they should be right now. The moon has been right, the water temps, bait, all good. But no fish. Last 3 days of fishing produced 1 Blue Marlin (caught on the last hour of the last day - today). Luckily it was a nice fish, about 350#. So for the last 7 days of fishing, we went 2-2. wow...like the percentage, but the number of fish????what's going on. Joe said out of the 10 boats that fished today, he didn't think there were any others caught....atleast I think tha't what I heard. Wow..this is not what we come to expect out of San Salvador at all. To top it all off the grass/weed is absolutely aweful. Joe said he talked to Flash over at Rum and it was bad there too, and the weed worse. it's almost unfishable unluess you get in the lee of the island.
Oh well, so LOW PROFILE shoves off tomorrow and puts an end to another Season in the Bahamas. Next stop, Marsh harbor for a top off, then Morehead City for another, then up to NJ to get in on the tuna bite that has started early this year.
Not sure what next year will bring...we hoped to stay longer this year, but things were a little slower than we'd like. Maybe shorten the season, maybe Mexico...lots of things on the table right now, but the cost to fill the boat is now $5500! We hold 800 gallons and fuel is 6.88 in Marsh Harbor. This does not look good, but we'll see.
- Tight Lines,
Trey
