Over Under Adventures - Final Bahamas Report - 350# Blue Marlin

Well, I wish I had better news to report, but things are not what they should be right now. The moon has been right, the water temps, bait, all good. But no fish. Last 3 days of fishing produced 1 Blue Marlin (caught on the last hour of the last day - today). Luckily it was a nice fish, about 350#. So for the last 7 days of fishing, we went 2-2. wow...like the percentage, but the number of fish????what's going on. Joe said out of the 10 boats that fished today, he didn't think there were any others caught....atleast I think tha't what I heard. Wow..this is not what we come to expect out of San Salvador at all. To top it all off the grass/weed is absolutely aweful. Joe said he talked to Flash over at Rum and it was bad there too, and the weed worse. it's almost unfishable unluess you get in the lee of the island.

Oh well, so LOW PROFILE shoves off tomorrow and puts an end to another Season in the Bahamas. Next stop, Marsh harbor for a top off, then Morehead City for another, then up to NJ to get in on the tuna bite that has started early this year.

Not sure what next year will bring...we hoped to stay longer this year, but things were a little slower than we'd like. Maybe shorten the season, maybe Mexico...lots of things on the table right now, but the cost to fill the boat is now $5500! We hold 800 gallons and fuel is 6.88 in Marsh Harbor. This does not look good, but we'll see.

    - Tight Lines,

The Bahamas has been slow this yr for Tuna and Marlin....Don't know if migration patterns are messed up or if its a population decrease...The winter Wahoo season was a good bite with lots of big fish towards the latter part of the season...However, the worst bite for Jacksonville Fl...Something just isn't right about migration patterns from the Bahamas this yr.

strange season for us...the winter was not up to par...we caught some nice Wahoo, a few over 100, but it was inconsistent.

Spring was one of the best ever...second week of April through end of May was about as good a bite as we've ever had I think.

Then June....oh my goodness, what a bad June. Of course, I had planned my fishing to be there in June, so that kinda jinxed the whole month I guess. We had some great days...but just so inconsistent.

Oh well...time to beat up on tuna now.

we started off hot this fall and winter in the abacos but it fell apart here in the spring some of which was because of the amazing amount of weed it was just about unfishable from march on. if the looks i was getting on the bridge from the guys clearing weed could kill?? if you could find a clear spot you found a few fish but it was close to impossible to do so i am going back this weekend to get the contender and then we will be going to the canyon trey if you need fuel pm me and i can get you fuel in treasure off the truck at my dock, you will save a bit. are you chugging straight to nc from abaco?

Got a couple photos from them

LOW PROFILE made the big jump to Morehead...now they are on their way to NJ. so far uneventul. Pulled off one blue marlin. boated 2 wahoo and lost a big one that chewed through a cedar plug. These are a couple shots of the last fish they caught before heading north
