Over Nite in the Wash 10/5

Well decided at the last min to make our Mon trip to be a Sun/Mon over nite trip to the Wash . Our crew was Bill Stephens , Dan , Josh , and Noah . We took Bills 320EC got there right at sunset so we did not have to much trolling time but we tried for about 20 mins . No bites so we went to the Wash and and set up in about 700ft . Started off by jigging up some live squid for bait . 1st bite was a 150lb tiger shark . 2nd bite was jumping out in the dark and i couldn,t ID him before it pulled the hook and that was it for the nite bite . In the morning we trolled in to 40 fathoms and caught a nice wahoo and some dolphin and got our planer bit off (guess we need to paint them black )and had 2 more cut off bites . All in all it was a good trip we caught our wahoo and got bill a cooler full of dolphin . My customer was happy that he got to use his boat and we were happy that he put the gas in it

we were catching swords (4 for 5) in 50 fathoms inside the east notch of the washington, ours were short but another boat by us had a keeper @58", i moved in to the 100 fathom line where there were about 10 other boats and only got 1 and it was shorter than the fish in 50 fathoms, probably should have waited it out in the shallows, good luck and nice report and pics.

ps: we were using live squid netted off the back of the boat and down 240 feet with a green glow light and blue led strobe, we were in the 50 fathom range on the gps, the sounder showed 288 feet, hopr this helps someone.

We were there too we started in about 700ft and drifted east over nite . We were using live squid too . We had one down about 200ft that the tiger shark bit . My mystery fish that was jumping out in the dark ate one that I only had about 30ft down with a glow stick about 10ft up I put it on Noahs butterfly jig but it pulled one of the hooks off before we got to see it . I think next time we are going to fish higher up closer to the boats lights .

Nice trip and report! How long of a leader are you guys using for the wire rigs? It almost looked like you are winding that onto the reel? We are currently using about 36" of #8 piano wire with a haywire twist and then connect that to our 150# ball bearing snap swivel connected to our double line. Any tips would be appreciated.
