OU: Bahamas 2011 - All the gory details
It might be easier to view this on our web-site: OVER UNDER - 2011 Bahamas Schedule & Trips
Below you will find our 2011 schedule. Our Bahamas season will begin in January and will run through to the end of June in 2011. Once again, we will be based in the Abacos but will be making two runs to the Southern Bahamas this year. The first will be in February to target MONSTER WAHOO (only 12 days open). Then again in late May when we move down to Long Island where we will run our Crooked Island Excursions (one trip still open).
In the Abacos we have several great resorts for you to choose from all winter and spring, in addition to private villas and homes. Our flexible live-aboard format has also proven very popular for exploring the Abacos for groups of 2-4.
As always our boat is available to go anywhere throughout the islands on a weekly basis, Paradise Island, Harbour Island, Chub, Abacos, and Southern Bahamas. If demand allows we may possibly add in a second boat in the Bahamas from April-July. Dates have been filling up quite nicely this season, so be sure to call us ASAP if you would like to look at joining us this year. Below are some sample trips, but be sure to call us at 866-OUA-TUNA to discuss your ideal vacation, as we are quite flexible. Our boat is available to go anywhere in the Bahamas on a weekly charter basis so give us a call!

Target Species: Giant Wahoo
Getting There:Fly Bahamas Air to San Salvador, via Nassau

San Salvador is arguably the best place in the world to target MONSTER WAHOO, and the OVER UNDER will once again be putting this much heralded destination back on its itinerary for 2011, albeit for a fairly short duration. This tiny island in the far southern Bahamas is a magnet for big wahoo, just ask George Poveromo who has fished here twice in the last 5 years, and has bagged wahoo over 100 pounds (117 and 143) on both occasions! Trolling is the name of the game, and with a healthy shark population, many unfortunately are lost to predators, but this is part of the game here in San Sal.
We are offering 4 to 6 day fishing packages in mid- to late-February, and have a total of 12 days available, so please call us now if you'd like to join us this winter.

OU has become well known for its Bahamas live aboard charters. The live aboard format allows you to visit different islands and anchor in remote anchorages. This is probably the best way to explore all the great things that the Bahamas has to offer. There are no set itineraries, schedules, or destinations. Everything can be customized based on your desired experience and preferred activities. This flexible format avoids the necessity for reservations at hotels, and allows us to maximize your time on the water, exploring different islands, fishing grounds, reefs and anchorages. Our crews will guide you through the islands and get you immediately to all the best sights, fishing locations, and reefs. Trips are limited from four to six people. Depending on the length of the trip and the schedule of activities, we can visit Guana Cay, Marsh Harbour, Treasure Cay, Hopetown and possibly Green Turtle Cay. Abacos Live Aboard Charters typically begin and end in Treasure Cay.
Depending on the length of the trip and the schedule of activities, we can visit Guana Cay, Marsh Harbour, Treasure Cay, Hopetown and possibly Green Turtle Cay. Abacos Live Aboard Charters typically begin and end in Treasure Cay, although arrangements can be made for pickup in Marsh Harbour.

28 slip marina? The area down by Scarvella's where Robby, Andy, Bonefish, etc. gather?
-
not sure exactly what you mean, but yes Hawks Nest has a 28 slip marina:

Sorry - I was thinking Crooked out front of Landrail.
-
i gotcha. yea, down there off crooked we have 4 different anchorages we use depending on the wind. Often we can lay right of the beach by Pittstown, when it's blowing we can go just south of Landrail and tuck in really tight in about 8' of water (great lobster in there..). Our favority spot is to the south off of Long Cay, when we have the weather. We anchor up on some reef there that is great for muttons. If it totally swtiches around on us and comes west, we'll go all the way around the bottom of Long Cay and go back up the other side. Certainly no marinas down that way...
Tight Lines,
Trey

Same anchorages we have used over the years. Can get sideways up in the bight with tide/wind working against one another. Have ventured up into French Wells anchoring alongside Peter and "Sea Hunter" in serious blows. Pretty consistent for us between Bird Rock - South tip Long Cay as it being fishable in strong SE conditions.
Good luck to you and see you down there this summer
