Man, if fishin could stay like this all summer, there will be an aweful lot of happy people. We had a really super day today with a gentleman and his 89 year old uncle. Just the two of them on the boat, so we decided to give the northern canyons a rest and head to the Wilmington to look for a bit of variety and variety we found...

Right off the bat, we came tight to a Mako on a green machine, which we released (about 80-90 pounds). Then we put them back in and a white came right up on my bridge rod and some how or other I managed to get a hook in him and we released a white. That was the first half hour of our day....

We ventured down the west wall, boating a nice 30 pound bull dolphin and shortly there after got our first tuna bite of the day, and boated a 55 pound yellowfin. We decided to keep on moving down the wall and check out the water in the SW corner, and do a bit of scouting about for the remainder of the week. We found the break we were looking for, and within 30 minutes of getting on it, we got nailed by 3 more even nicer 70# yellowfin, which we put in the boat, one by one. Just one angler.... was really fun. I had 2 up in the bridge and handed them down one at a time.

We decided that the day had been a great success by about 11am and started trolling inshore and got jumped yet again, boating another nice 55 pound yellowfin. We picked up about 12:30 and headed for the barn with 5 Yellowfin, a White Marlin Release and Mako Release, and a dolphin in the box. One of my favorite days on the water this year for sure...

Tight LInes,
