    Yo, Lenny! Hiya, hiya, hiya!

If anybody can figure this stuff out, it'll be you, paisano! Just think, if it weren't for you and your service, we'd be wondering what was going on out there, period, instead of wondering what's causing it. It's too easy to forget BF (Before Lenny) and leaving the inlet blind and wondering which way to go. I haven't forgotten. Thanks, Cappy!

Best to momma and Da Mooch, too.

    Capt. Len,

Pleasure speaking with you at the AC CR seminar. Always awesome to hear your take on things.

You think this will be a good thing for this season? Way I see it is anything that could maybe deviate from the pattern we've been having maybe good.

Thoughts maybe that Lab current is pushing down hard pulling up early season blooms off the bottom? I know from diving this time of year vis isn't that super. Possibly be the issue?

    Got Some Turbidity Feedback

Just received a call from someone with information on the water clarity in the Hudson Canyon. He explained a personal friend made a tilefishing trip to the Hudson on April 12. They fished the east and west wall at the tip and found the water to be very dirty. When their lines came aboard they were covered with some sort of growth and slime. It probably is a massive plankton bloom and, as I suspected, the equipment is functioning proper and these charts are accurate. We will continue monitoring the shelf.

Two Year Old Spring Turbidity Chart -- Compare

I've attached a 490K turbidity image of the Northeast dated 4-16-08. It is exactly two years old and it does show dirty water at the shelf--possibly a plankton bloom because of the time of year. Compare it to the current turbidity images. The water this year is far more turbid then 2008. I looked at 2009 although I only kept an image from May 30 the water was similar to 2008 and far less turbid than this year.
Note that swirling blue blob eddy near the Wilmington area. Water is super clean and see how it pulls water off the shelf on the East side and pulls water north on the West side
