Day 1 of the tournament we caught nice mess of YFT and put 148#'s on the board which put us in 10th place going into the 2nd day...so We discussed our plans that night and decided to run big bates, islanders and big spreader bars looking for a Big-Eye....we trolled some pretty nice water with no hits so we moved into the 68 Degree green water and started seeing Flying Tuna again. About 1000 or so we get a nice hookup on the shotgun big pink spreader bar and Otter is on the rod. Get him to the boat and he's a nice 40# class YFT, not what we're looking for but we've got skunk off the boat....troll around the area and get a couple hits that don't come tight, then right at about noon I'm trolling over my mark where we caught the first Tuna the day and I get a Fantastic Mark, I didn't say anything but just was listening for the sound and then I hear it....SCREAMING Drag off a 50wide wiht a Get Reel Tiki Bar with a Hawaiin Eye islander trailing...I keep the boat in gear hoping for multiple but nothing else comes up...Brian Steadman is on the rod and he yells, he's got half the spool out !...OK, slow the boat down and clear lines...put the Harness on steady and he gets the fish under control. This fish put a hurting on steady, about 35 minutes we get him to the boat and everybody is all business when we see color....Dude, that's a big ass fish Mike said quietly....Steady's got about 20Pounds of drag on this fish and it's bending my Custom FINRAZOR rod almost all the way over...finally Don gets on the Leader....Mike Hits the fish in the throat and otter is right behind him with a 2nd Gaff...that fish hit the deck of Still Think'n and it was on, we knew we were in the running...Mahem ensues on the boat for about 15 minutes as we're high fiving and cleaning up...Steady is done for the day !...big ass fish....no more hits until three and then lines in...hit the scales and fish goes 106#'s giving us a total of #211 for our biggest three fish...we missed first place biggest fish by .5 pounds...somebody weighed in a 106.5# big eye.....same boat put #215 on the board beating us by 4 pounds....we get 2nd place angler, 2nd place over all weight and 1st place outboard division.....awesome time....Big thanks to Steady 24, Don, Mike and Otter.....and a huge thanks to Dave (billable ours) for loaning me a gaff for day 2....Otter kinda had an accident with my new gaff on day 1 hitting a nice fish...Mike I'm gonna need another custom gaff....here's some shots...Bob
