    Thumbs up Oregon Inlet report

Just thought I would post a short report from this past weekend fishing out of Oregon Inlet. The weather really to nice!! Not much winds and very slight and light seas!! The water on the other hand was almost pea green at the Point and the temps were really not as cool as we really wanted. We fished around the 510 to the 640 and managed to scratch out a few fish. We did mark a lot of fish at the point at depths 100-150 ft. Ended up with three Yellowfins and three Blackfins. All and all a good trip. There are alot of Backfins around right now. The water is getting better and should get better as the month progresses
If you are heading to OI make sure you ask where to go under the bridge. The main span is shoaled up to 3-4 feet and we had to go under the bridge at seventh span south of the main span. We went under the bridge before sunrise and it is very tricky when the tide is going out. With the shoaling at the northern end of the bridge the current cranks through the southern end of the bridge and the span is much narrower. We came back in using the second span after seeing a larger boat go through. We drafted about 4.9 ft under the second span south of the main span…Mark

Got to love those alutecnos reels. Wind-on going straight to the spectra/dacron?

I really like these reels. The 30ft windons are straight to the spectra. We went 6 for 6 on the strike to hookups. Not alot of strikes but the most important thing is they landed in the fish box. Mark

I am using 130lb JB hollowcore as the mainline and running 80lb and 90lb 25-30ft flouro windons. The 130lb JB hollowcore is way more economical than the 80lb JB hollowcore..Mark
