IMHO you can buy an entire spread of nice lures for what they cost. A lot of lures make noise without batteries. I'd rather have a bunch of various color C&H LilStubby's pin rigged for bally and a couple spreader bars for the same money.

That being said, and money being no issue, do they catch better than analog lures? Dunno.

Being an old school lure maker I have outlasted all kinds of gimmicks... Clear soft sunk a lot of big companies cause it turns to shit on a shelf after a while... Abalone or pearl inserts are over the hump for popularity... I'm slow to get away from what has worked for years and years and years.
That being said we had one splashed last year during a tournament. The guy put it on too light of an outfit but sure enough it got bit in a center spread position. That means the fish had to come past other plastic and swimming meat to get to it...
I was involved with a couple lures that had light effects, one using cyalume then the other strobe... Sealed battery was supposed to last a long time but it didn't that lure went right in the crapper because of it. I should have made provision for standard battery and easy replacement...

Curious...is this lure being used as a teaser only? Or is it being rigged? If rigged, what are some opinions on how to rig it...stiff rig, single/double hook, etc...? Thanks!

Its a lure... Rig it single and let her rock... The fellow who ran that one behind my boat last year had it done on 400 mono with a 10 stainless hook but then ran it on a 30 wide... Not enough stick to sink the hook...

BIG HIT WITH THE SO. CAL STRIPED MARLIN CROWD

The local So.Cal and Cabo Striped Marlin boats out here buy allot of them, I mean 3, 6, 9 and 12 at a time..

Plenty of Stripers have been caught on them, so once someone catches one it goes on a local free message board out here that everyone reads daily and all of a sudden THAT"S THE ONLY COLOR THAT WORKS>> You know the drill ... so we get a run on Blue/Silver or So.Cal's favorite color... Mean Joe Green...That is essentially just any Green/Black skirted lure.

Batteries.. You get 8 hours form their Lithium Batteries for $10 a pop.. Little cheaper if you buy 10 at a time..

FYI, Plenty of fish have been caught with dead and/or no battery also as it actually is a decent running and looking lure on it's own.

They do a 9" 11" and 14" lure and the 14" makes a pretty nice teaser tight to the transom...

My own experience last season in 2 Striped Marlin Tournaments was this. The owner of my boat bought 13 of them so of course they where going in the water, I started with a 6-8 rod spread (average in So.Cal is 2-4) and I put 2-3 Eals's in the spread, after 5 days I had 3 Makos and 0 Stripey's on the Eal's but only 1 Stripey on a Marlin Magic Striker lure (sweet white marlin Lure IMO back east)
So the Makos like them which I can understand because the distress sound probably pisses them off and they just want to wreck it..

I rigged mine single 9/0 7691 stiff rigged, with the back of the lure/battery sticking out there is not much room for a double hook rig (only about 4" of skirt to work with nor do I think that's best for this lure, I liked the way they ran with a single stiff with electrical tape.

We rig one up behind 4 Moldcraft squirt squids also to make a pretty cool daisy chain
