Oooh...

Hit the edge early. The sail bite was going off pretty good and I readied for what I thought would be a near sure thing. The fish had different plans though. We did pick a small dolphin and some neeters but the sails shut down pretty early...
The radio got quiet and the fleet fanned out. It was bluebird gorgeous so I made a suggestion about getting Deep to my people... They were game so I dragged the spread toward the horizon. A busted up weed line smelled of fish in about 700' so I started hammering the area.
I was in a turn when I saw the ocean behind my right rigger get purple! There she was, a good sized blue she launched and bowed up! I came off the sticks and got to clearing. She was a half spool out before I got going backwards... The line hemorrage slowed and I felt good about getting this one. She had other plans though... Instead she grey hounded back at us. The angler couldn't keep up and it was straight stick city...

I jacked the sticks back to marlin speed and re set... I saw something blow up on the flat. It missed then on the next pass steel got home on a yellowfin! We don't get a lot of them here so for me it was a thrill. Maybe a 35lb fish, no slob but a lot of fun on the 20lb stick we had it on. It was a little tug of war we were enjoying when I saw "IT" the top of another blues tail just lazily heading our way. It was big enough to even get an "oooh" from me. I had visions of it piling on the yellowfin but it just cruised by...

Ihammered the area for hours more with no action. On the way in we stopped and worked some birds and pushing flyers but all we could pull was a couple more neeters... I think its gonna be another slide to the deep tomorrow and thursday....

Sounds like a good day Deep!! It sure beats the frozen tundra that we have up here..........although its supposed to get up to 54 on Thursday and 58 on Monday!!!

Any day spent fishing is a good day!!

Tim- You better start lifting weights dude...........March is just around the corner!! Deep might be able to move ya up to 5lbs drag.......per finger!!

I have to use my eagle sharp lazer vision to set the drags... I scan shoulders, bicep, forearm, and pec muscle tone... Then I calibrate that against a psycological "map" of a person... This gives me the manly man index on which I base my fine tuning...
