One boat out of 25 helps out at the canyon? Sound funny to you?

Why was there only one recreational boat to respond to the emergency? How did the other captains react? Did they react at all? Was there at least some group effort to make sure that the distressed boat had enought help?

I heard that there were 25 or so boats fishing that day - 6 miles from the incident. If the call was broadcast on 68, I'd like to hear the reasons why there was only one boat to help the crew of that boat.

What if John was not there? At least tell me that he communicated to the other boats that he had it under control. If not, you should realize that the canyon is more dangerous than you think.

Someone said there are pictures of the boat. How can I find them? I was one of the four on that boat. Thanks John for all you did for us and to the CG for their quick response.

I think most people just kill the radio any more to be honest . There is so much crap on the radio it becomes a pain in the ass.

On that day the radio was catching talk in the carolinas up to boston. I will say i shut my radio off a few times this day and i will also admit that it was just be accident that i turned my radio on and i was not montering 16 i cuaght a relay of this i believe by sterling on 68.

All i can say is this , after seeing the pictures of the bottom of this boat i personally feel that it could have been alot worse . These guys are sportfishermen and we are supposed to be a community of fishermen who will help each outher no matter what. It always seems to take death to bring a subject to light and i hope after all this alot more people moniter 16 and pic up a pen when the numbers are broadcasted to figure out a distance.

All that matters in the whole thing to me is the poeple who were on the boat are at home .

Just remember try to moniter 16 and also if you here a mayday switch to channels others may be on a rebroadcast the fact that there is a mayday on 16 .

Hope to see you all on the water this weekend.

    Peace
    john

On my boat once we've cleared the bridges i switch the main radio to ch. 16 all day. I use my back up portable if i need to talk to anyone or am scanning.
