Looks like the South Jersey Marina Shark Tourney went off without a hitch 227 boats entered. We decided the first day to pick a course that was the lightest in traffic. We ended up at the west wall of the trunk with 68.8 degree water, greenish blue and pretty clean. Marked alot of bait and had a few blues in and out of the slick. Bait was 3lb blues. We fished hard all day and had 3 bites with one broken line to show for our work. The second dayI let the bridge monkeys on the trip pick the spot, I gave them two spots and punched in the opposite they picked. We arrived with 50 minutes before fish tme and had a monster at the boat in minutes of stopping, never to be seen again for the day.
As soon as we started to chum we had blues in the slick. We had 68.7 degree water much cleaner this day and fished a little shallowerthan day one. We had 4 bites reel quick and close together at different depths then spotted a small mako and figured than was our thief. As I was lettin out the bow line the midshipline took off. We knew it wasn't the rat and about 1 hour and 20min later we unloaded a shell into our thresher. On our way home at 12:20 cruising at 15 knots with an eta to the inlet of just after 3pm.
We knew the fish wasn't going to win the event but may have grabbed us a few bucks fr the day. We ended up second heaviest day two and a few nice photos at the scale. I would like to than our crew who workd very hard to bag this fish, having people that don't fish together can get tough with big fish and these guys worked very well. Sean our new mate has not sharked much since he came off a marlin boat
so he wasn't used to getting his clothes dirty
and gaffing something that bites back
. The fish was at the the boat twice with the second time doing him in. Also thanks to OFFSHORE CUSTOM TACKLE for suppling us with their awsome shark rigs.

And this last one is for Sea Tow Steve, you need bigger rulers for us the ones you left on the boat weren't long enough.![]()
