Last year I came off the tld series and went over to speedmasters... Man are they sweet. Weigh nothing, fast like rabbit if I gotta get on fish fast, great capacity. I have full sets of 15, 20 25, and 50 tlds for other stuff. The tld 15 is sweet as can be but kinda slow.
When we get bunched up it can get tight in a pack of boats. "Stretched out" is not a good thing when its like that. With the speedmasters I can crawl right up on a fish and get him before it gets involved with other boats or kites.
Deep Looks like you and my Buddy LB had a good day![]()

Yes Chris
Both he and I had a ball. The big surroundings made a great backdrop. The fact that we had three really extra hot fish really got him. He had caught a couple before but these ones really changed his opinion about just what these fish can do when they get a mind to. Good size class 50-60lbs and brutally stubborn.
I was just eating up the gorgeous day...
Thank you for referring him...![]()
That set has 20lb on em I'm running 5-6lbs. My other set has 12 and they get 4lbs. My tld 15s I prefer when theres no crowds. The lever can allow me to run almost free with clicker. The TSM clicker is pretty light. I have to spin the line in the clip to keep them from free dropping on the troll. Tsm is the same reel with the star drag and faster gear box. There a TLD star in that same range slightly slower than the TSM and faster than the lever.
I often go to the tld 20's or even 25's later in the season cause we get some bigger mixed critters start to join the party. Rare but still occasional are big yellowfins. Even the 25's come up too light for the pigs but at least you stand a chance. If I do a deeper troll the 25's get that duty cause you don't know when a blue might decide to play. Again you stand at least a chance...
Still in the tight packs or tournies for sails the TSM gets the nod...
Poon Man pointed me at this thread.
Excellent day and I learned a lot both about the rigging of a circle hooked ballyhoo as well a few tips on trolling strategy I'm going to keep in mind this summer.
I also got a good sense on how to run my boat in big seas better than I do right now.
Lots of learning and we even caught fish.
How many did you end up releasing for the day?
It has been really good up in Jupiter too.
