Boat: Reel Fancy
Crew: Steve,John,Joel,Rich,Howard,Beck & me.
Pretty much the same area as last week. 650-730 60-300fat. Minimum current with the change starting @ the 700 & up. going from 75.5- 68 @ the north end. There is still a ton of fish but with such a strong feed the day before + a full moon & heavy boat pressure with the Tournament/weekend combined, the bite was a bit slow for many of the boats.
Best bite was before the boats got thick. We started fishing on the 685 @ about 6:30 am & had pretty steady action till 8:00. Then I think it was maybe 1 more double & a scattered Dolphin here & there. Then around 3:30 we managed a couple more + lost 1 & a tail off some pups right @ the end when pulling lines @ 4:00 in (50 fat). This Hammerhead was a beast & wasn't just happy with the tail from the first Tuna. He was lit up like a Blue one who just had a teaser snatched from him with nowhere else to go. That was untill he sensed the other Tuna still hooked down below. Well you know how that played out.
Anyways, another great day @ OI. We had a crew of new faces with most having never caught a Tuna before. Well they got to see what all the fuss is about. Congrats guys on your catch. Hope the friends that you choose to share your pile of Tuna steaks with appreciate all the hard cranking you put in to bring them home to the table.
It was great meeting you guys.
final: 9 Tuna & 3 Gaffers with about 5 more Tuna not making it to gaff.
Pics will be added once received from the crew by e-mail tomorrow.
