Got the call Monday to come down and fish with Jake and Keifer. Had a bumpy ride out. Caught the first wahoo on a Squidnation Shell Bar in Blue and white. Then Nada, zilch not a pull. Jake suggested sea bassin for a while so we moved to one of his spots and bailed the sea bass about an hour when he suggested we pick em up and start trolling again. Their were two boats down the way within site that were catching a few. It didn't sound promising up the beach where all we heard was a dolphin or two from the charter fleet. Peristance paid off when the wb got hit. That fish was caught on a squidnation black and purple bird chain with a bally/tracker combo. Before we could get the rod off the bridge The Electric blue chain got ambushed and then the electric blue bar went down for the count. Nice class of 50-55lb fish. Got all three in the boat and started again-that is about the time we looked up to see acres of tunas airing after the flyers. Wonder why blue was working so well, Duh! Had one flyer high tail it over the transom with a yellow fin on it ass. The flyer flew right over the cockpit and yellowfin came within feet of colliding with the boat. Proceeded to catch a total of 12 tunas yellowfins/blackfins 1 wahoo and a mess of sea bass and one snapper. The bars and chains were hell on the tunas today. Almost all came on Blue but the last two hit the pink chain. Great day as always with Jake and Keifer. I would highly reccomend chartering the Matador. He will put you on the fish and show you a great time. The cool thing about fishing with jake is that he is willing to try anything. When the Tuna bite was not evident he suggested sea bassing and had we not loaded up on the tunas we were going to go deep dropping for tilefish. Thanks Jake and KEifer. Got a few shots of the tuners chasing the flyer but no real great ones.
Gotta Love the Bloody Gaff
