Sorry for the late report. Fished Monday on Bill Funk's boat, Reel Fancy with crew of Bill, Connor, Bert, Joe, Barry, and myself. Started up north toward the 800 in the same eddy we had spanked the mahi and wahoo out of VB. We were hoping for the lousy fall tuna bite to devolope and it showed some signs of arrival. Set lines and within minutes we are feeding sheerwaters(sp?) ballyhoo. Leave area, re deploy, water gets colder, not what were looking for. Pull lines, head north some more and find decent water with a 3 degree break at the 850. What's there, weeds. We can't buy a break. Shagged weeds constantly but thats were the fish were. Caught 1 40# yft, ten gaffers and 2 wahoos by about 12. Bite in our area kinda fizzled out so we headed north to some insane amounts of weeds. I Give Bill alot of credit because I would have turned back. Finally, after lots of bitching from the crew, we find fishable water on the edge of some grass clumps. Wham, deep rig is taking drag and we figure we got a nice hoo. Fish comes to color and we see its not a hoo but a rather large yft that just realized it didn't like the boat. Finally get the gaff in a 70#, after bleding, boscoe. Nice citation for bert. Get back on the troll and planer trips again. 40# yft to end the day and all smiles as we know our tuna drought is over.

3 for 6 yft,( the ones we missed hit during the sheerwters dive bombing the baits. It was crazy. Couldn't tell if it was a fish or shitgoose)
    2 for 2 wahoo
    10 for ??? gaffers
    1 bird released

    Thanks for the report

Glad to see a few tuna have showed up. Hopefully the rest of them begin swimming south as well. Some of the catches seemed to be summer catches of dolhin & Hoos here lately.
