OI 11/17/07 Got our Fair Share

Fished with Connor, Mike(Fish Dad), and Chub from the 650-680 in perfect 68-70 degree clear blended water. Was one of only two boats that set out there and we had our pick of nice 40-55 lb tuna with one 30#er thrown in. We had six by by 10:30 when the fleet rolled in and the bite slowed. Still no surface bites but the planer and WWB did the trick. Had a nice 50#er crush the bar with 5 minutes to go before lines out and I even got one of them yellers right as the hook pulled. Seas ended up laying out perfectly and the ride in was at 30kts. Great day as I know the OI fleet had a tough one. Good to meet Billy(striper On) and crew. Got our turkey tuna and a nice week off to go see the niece and nephew.

    Pics and Video

Conner and Carson, thanks for the call on Friday for the OI trip on Saturday. After a long, slow summer and fall out of VB, finally got my tuna fix. Pleasure to fish with you guys. You guys know how to fish hard but still still have a good time which is what it's all about. Love that gaff shot Carson made AFTER I pulled the hook on the tuna and he stuck him before he went down. My heart sank when he pulled the hook right after I got him to the surface but Carson was on target with that gaff shot.

Really enjoyed the day. Thanks again.

Here is the video I did for the day.

As long as they are steady catching yft. Won't tuna fish as much in the winter months especially if striper bite is good, but we went out in Jan last year. I'm expecting to fishing hard all the way through December this year. The best of it is yet to come.

Got em all vacuum packed up, saved enough for sushi and grilled tuna steaks for a couple of days of fresh eats. Got enough now in the freezer to last a bit but going to need more to make it through the winter. Let me know next time you go. I'm still hoping for one more shot at them out of Virginia but it ain't looking good.
