Talking Oh ya Bikini Jam Report "Maximo"

    Ujena Bikini Jam report!

Sorry for the late report everyone but fact of the matter is Bill AKA SquidNation called the night before I left and asked who was going with me. I said Bill I am heading into the wild world of the Bikini Jam alone. Bill flat out said he could not allow a fellow SFM member travel into the unknown with out a co pilot.

So Tuesday morning I found Bill sitting at the bar in the AZ airport. Man let me tell you all something, my little innocent trip to Mexico turned from an innocent trip to document an event to a full-on round the clock party.

I must thank BILL right now, one for all his hard work with the camera and also his will to succeed at getting the most out of a trip to Mexico. I can say I am a changed man and have a whole new outlook on life. I thank you Mr. Bill for this.

Bob from Ujena - all I can say is “wow man”. You put on one hell of an event and I must say that I have found a new August event to be a part of. From the first day I spoke to Bob it was an absolute pleasure and very well organized.

Wayne Bisbee, as always you and your team are the best! It is an absolute pleasure to know you and hear the adventures of WAYNE B. Look forward to seeing you at the Black and Blue!

    JOSH FREAKING TEMPLE AND CREW!

Ok first off I have to admit; I was a tad bit nervous about meeting up with this guy.
We all can read all we want online and attempt to figure out who someone is. Fact is 90% of the time we are way off base on our opinions of an online personality. 10% of the time the online personality matches the person. Josh no doubt is dead balls on to his online personality. When he writes he writes with passion! Fact is he lives on passion and the will to be the best at what he does.

Spending a couple days with Josh and his crew really woke me up a lot. Life is short and you can either live life or ride through life and everyone who is around Josh is living life to the fullest. The Mojo that is around these guys is off the hook and the word BRO means friends no matter what. They fish as bro’s and party as bro’s and the fact is, it’s not possible to have a bad day on the water when you can enjoy a day of fishing on the pacific ocean with your friends.

Day one I can not say for sure but I counted 21 people.

Ok east coast boys and girls 21 people! Yes 21 people out fishing and sometimes 13 or so people in the cockpit. I never heard more then laughs and people having fun. When a fish came sniffing around it was all business and if the fish was missed of hooked at the end of it all we all laughed out loud and found something really positive about what just happened. I must say I have never fished onboard a boat with this many people and had as much fun as we did.

So my question to all of you is this?
Was everyone laid back and chill because we all were in Mexico enjoying life?
Was everyone laid back and chill because the boat was so big?
Was everyone laid back and chill because the fish were not biting?
Or was everyone laid back and chill because the girls were half naked ?

I still have not figured this one out.

Ok well back to day one of fishing at the Bikini Jam onboard Maximo!
Day 1 weather was great and the currents out at the fishing bank were at a complete stand still! We trolled and trolled and trolled for hours attempting to get someone to inhale the live baits swimming around in the spread.

All the sudden the Mojo on the boat got really up beat and the girls started to call upon the fish gods! Next thing I know I am clicking away on the digital camera attempting to keep up with this sailfish jumping all over the place. I then noticed that we had 2 sailfish jumping behind us and the crew completed a sailfish release at the transom of the boat.

Ok, cool a sail release and we are off to the races with some points on the board.
The day gets hot and the drinks stay cold but the fish are not slamming anything.

The last hour of the day was upon us and it was time for the girls to call the fish in!
IT WORKED! BIKINI TOPS HANGIN FROM THE RIGGERS GIRLS TURNED ON THE HIGH BEAMS TO DIRECT THE BILLFISH TO THE STRIKE ZONE!
SLAM fish on oh hell yeah either a black or a blue the boat fires up with excitement and then all the sudden the pull stops and we have some dead weight on the line.

WTF the lure got slammed hard and the fish seemed to be gone but we definitely still had something on the line. He reels the line in to the boat and shit guys this was no doubt my first time ever seeing a marlins eye ball hanging from the hook.

Not just the eye but the whole damn eye socket.

Will Josh Temple one day catch a grander with one eye?

Ok day one was over and done and MAXIMO was sitting in number one release category and I believe another boat put a tuna on the board at 21 lbs or so.

Day 2 was another great weather day and the currents were moving around the fishing grounds and the tuna were jumping all over the place. The crew headed up to the bow of the boat and started casting, the tuna came on right away and Matt brought the first tuna to the gaff. Next Steve hooked one up and brought him to the gaff. For hours upon hours the guys kept casting though out the day never giving up but the bit went silent.
Later in the day the girls pulled out all the stops to get the fish to come up and play.
Nothing was working so Josh and his crew all gathered on the bridge to attempt and call some fish to the boat. Josh sat back and said there is no way a fish can see this spread and pass by it. Only a few mins left in the day, water was perfect and the spread was no doubt looking really good. Josh called out to the fish as loud as he could and don’t ya freaking know it he said the fish is gonna hit this lure any second and BAM rigger pops and we had a fish on! Ok so it was a dolpin but god damn the shit that went on to call this fish to the hook just made the day so much better.

We then pack it in and head to the scales to see what the tuna weighs.
We heard during the day that one boat had a black marlin hooked up and that another boat was coming in with a nice tuna. Josh kicked back and said ahh hell a great couple days on the water with great people out weighs winning the tournament. We all had so much fun on this trip that winning or losing did not matter as no one could take away the memories we will all have from this trip.

We hit the marina to weigh our fish and I think the tuna was 37 lbs!
Next thing we find out is the boat that was fighting the black did not get the release and the boat with the tuna was not going to make it back to the scale in time.
MAXIMO and crew won the event!

Ok so I don’t know Mexico, girls, beers, boats, girls, parties, girls, great food, fast boats, Pelagic Hats on girls, more girls, parties, fishing, girls, more fishing and hey more girls and parties.
My mind is made up I’m going back to Mexico next year for the Bisbee’s Ujena Offshore Bikini Jam and I think you all should plan on coming with us.

So if you’re interested in getting hooked up for next year please send me a Pm as we are going to start putting together a couple fishing teams for next year.
Im hoping you all can just get the picture of this event from my killer writing skills and I don’t think photos can tell the story like my writing does so I will just keep them in my personal collection for now.

Pelagic Clothing by the way I owe a huge thank you to for a great time in Mexico and also they hit me up and wanted to make sure you all got to see some photos so Please thank Pelagic and thank them for supporting SportFishermen.com’s adventure to Mexico.

I hope Bill and Josh and crew can also post up what they remember as I’m sure my brain has lost a few hours of this week along the way.

Bring on next year and again hit me up so we can arrange this for next year if you want to come along on adventure number 2!
