Offshore Question

Got a question guys. Most of the warm water off of the VA/NC has left or is very scattered. The Sat shots show a tight break at Hatteras but it begans to fall apart up close off of VA. I read a article about a guy who puts out 2 16oz jet heads on the flats when he hits 20 fa and trolls them at 20knts on the way to his starting point. Has anyone tried this? People are running all the way to the Cigar and trolling a tight pattern and getting skunked. How do you know if you are running over fish to get to fish?
All civil comments are welcome. If you got any ideas on how to find them I can try it on Sat.

When we go out or come in in rough water and we can not go more then 15 knots I will put out the jetheads no matter where I am. early in the yr we caught and released at least 15 bluefins with this method. We caught the bluefins at 10, 12, 13 14 and 15 knots. We have also caught at least 4 wahoos using this method. mostly up noth of you crossing over the hambone and hot dog lumps. The bluefins came on a troll home from the washington when we got caught in a shitty NE'er. We also raised a white about 10 yrs ago doing this on the old Anthony's Ark. Did not catch it.

Aloha!

I have a pair of 130s spooled with 75% dacron and topped off with 200

I use these rigs as you have mentioned, strickly for that purpose

The top shot is changed at the house by soaking the dacron in warm tupperware of hot,,,, waxing a needle and shoving it inside the dacron 10 feet

It is not sporting the way I do it but it does put fish in the box while your moving

Trolling at high speed will wear out the line, wire is best but too heavy for my likes,,, dacron and superbaraids will snap,,,the 200 is the best,,,nothing gets away or lost gear,,,bent butt rods!!

Mark the line with a sharpie so you can tell if it creeps out on ya,,,somtimes you won't hear it over the engine

cheers

Here is the cheap option,,,handlines

Run 1 off each side,,attached to the spring cleat with a #64 as a strike indicator,,,we catch 1000s of #s of fish on these

It is not sporting so check yer regs, they may be outlaw,,,it sure is fun to feel a fish pulling mano a mano
