I think that's why the hotels are all so sparse- I think that you'd want to be a long ways away from there when a hurricane comes bearing down.

We rented a Jeep and cruised down ourselves- I feel like less of a tourist when I'm not on one of those big busses, plus I can bring my fishing rods with me wherever we go

It's not all foolproof though- I did have a "run in" with one of Mexico's finest law enforcement officials. I paid the fine and was on my way

Wow dude, that looks like a hell of a time. Great photos and vids. That fish plate is making me drool.

People complain about law enforcement here in the states, but it's a little worse there, huh? I suppose it's like paying a toll on the turnpike, just in pesos.

That's cool man. You gotta love the Federales. We got the shakedown in Baja and my friend actually asked the guy who pulled us over for a receipt!!

Looks like an awesome place. Thanks for sharing.

    shoe,
cool trip. i have made it in that vicinity and all the way to punta allen a few times. first time i went down that road was over 15 years ago. that bridge is a little harry to say the least trying to get a car over it. we have waded those flats more that a couple times and caught some great bones and permit. seen some big crocks while walking the flats too. wahtch out around the mangroves at that inlet. cool place. you should see that road in the rainy season. that is why there is no hotels. potholes the size of vw bugs. boy i can't wait to get back down there.
