You can say that again! Actually on one of the trips in question we ran out with a 32 Cape Horn CC and wound up passing them a few miles down the beach, shortly thereafter we saw them turn around! The comfort issue is more about my Dad who I fish with, he's old and has Arthritis in his everything. I hate to say he limits what we are able to fish in, but he just can't take the rough boat ride like he once could. I'm only in my 20's, and aside from the occasional spray, it doesn't bother me too much.

Perry's mate is dead on. Water is super skinny just south of the narrows bridge. Beyond that point, not too bad 4 to 6 ft. I personally think one of the worst things is the grass. It can be super thick so watch your temp guages and water pick-ups. It's also fairly easy to get screwed-up just north of Chincoteague. The channel cuts across the the bay and it can be a little confusing about what your next marker should be.

Buffalo, keep fishing with the old man for as long as you can. My dad and I have fished together forever and he was actually my mate on my charterboat for several years. Last year was the first year I fished my charters without him...at 67 he had just gotten to slow, can't hear worth a darn...good news he is still in great physical shape so he fishes with me in Carolina on fun trips a lot. You will one day treasure the time you and your dad got to spend together offshore.

I hear you, he's been the one fronting the bill for all this stuff my whole life and I owe all of my access to it and a great deal of what I've learned from him, wouldn't trade it for the world. Glad you know where I'm coming from, and glad to hear fishing with your old man has meant the same to you as it has to me.

He probably can't "hear worth a damn" because of all those years of the Captain yelling, fussing, and cussing from the bridge! That said, Butch is a hell of a nice guy! I only wish I still had my dad around, he took me to Guard Shore when I was six years old and put me on my first fish, a rock (striper) and I've been hooked ever since...
