OCMD LEGASEA report 7/3...YFT and WHITES (pics added)

Well, with all the great reports this season so far, I finally get to post something good. Set out with a great crew on board of John Rogers, Buck, and my sister. We left the pines a little before 4 and made our way south. It was a pretty snotty ride out as the waves were stacked close but the world cat did great as always. We put lines in about 70fathoms on the 950 line and in about 5 minutes had both longs come tight. We put 2 small yft in the box, both around 29 inches or so. Worked that area hard for another 2 hrs or so then started to head offshore. Got bit again and caught 2 out of 3 bites and had more BLTs, but the one yours truly pulled the hook on after about 10 min was a much nicer fish. It was screaming line off at 16lbs of drag without even thinking about it. We continued to work offshore and a little north and had our next bite on the 999 line in around 200 fathoms. This one was a white who came up on the the right short...popped the clip...dropped back...fish on. We put my sister on the rod and this white put on a great show and Carolyn got her first white! About 20-30 min later we had another white come up on a green machine daisey chain and whack away, but didnt come tight and he didnt come back up. After a while we worked our way a little further north and inside to about 110 fa (may have been 160, memory is a lil foggy) and found a good break and the start of a decent weed line. We started working the west side of it and then the excitement started. Had a very hot white come up on the left teaser chain and put on a great show...finally got him off the teaser and he came up on the left short. Dropped back and we are hooked up to our second white. He did a few dances then went deep and turning in to a real pain in the a$$. He just wanted to stay down and not budge. Got the leader after about a 20 min fight and had our second release of the day. We tried the jackspot on the way home looking for a bft, but only gave it a few min and we didnt get any love there. ended the day 4-5 on yft and 2-3 on whites. It was a very fun day with some great old friends. Pics to follow soon.

Good fishing Shark. It was good seeing you again. It certainly was rough going in the AM, but you stuck it out and had a great day. It's hard to pull the plug on a trip when you don't have as many days as you would like to fish. Employment will do that to you.
