    OCMC Small Boat - Non-report

Fished the OC Marlin Club Small Boat tournament on Saturday with wife Danielle, Ted Swingle, Jeanne Arnondin, and John Adams (the Pirate). Headed south and started at the Parking Lot. marked a ton of bait but couldn't buy a bite. Watched a couple boats hook up (congrats team Real Estate) but it wasn't our day. Moved out to the Washington Lumps and found ugly 67 degree water but there was still tons of bait (closer to the surface than the PL). Caught one bluefish and ran back into 20 fathoms but no BFT were to be found. Congrats to Squidnation and others who placed in the tourney!

    Talking You've been on fire...

Saturday was a very tough day and you know it. We had one bight and just happenned to be lucky. If I recall, you were next to us at that moment, and it easily could have been you AC. You've been killing it, and the best part of the season is in front of us. Time to refocus now...Canyon Kick-off is only two weeknds away. Mandatory strategy sessions this Friday and Saturday and again next Thursday with regroup session on Friday and possibly Saturday...location to be determined, but possible locations are 1.) OCMC; 2.) "The Porch" in 'sothern' OC; or 3.) Villa Sex....alternate location "Casa el Presidente"

    Be the ball Danny...

    Small Boat Inshore late Report

We had a great day on the "2FAR OUT!" Saturday fishing at the Great Eastern in the inshore division of the Small Boat Tournament. Forgot about the OC Shark Tournament and hit the sea bouy at 6 A.M. Well my 23' Sea OX had to battle throught boat wakes from all the shark tournament boats for the first ten miles. I'll have to remember that next year!! Sharon and I had our good friends Mark and Pam Hess on board. Mark owns a deer cutting bussiness in Millsboro and also runs the Preditor out of Indian River.

We started fishing the cable piles on the great eastern and the conditions were perfect. Less than .5 mile per hour drift. The bite was red hot! Within 2 hours we had Two nice Tog, a 22 inch flounder and a few keeper sea bass. We probably caught 50 sea bass to get 4 keepers. Most were just under the 12.5 inch mark. The bite shut down for some reason at about 10. We moved over and anchored on a wreck and only managed to catch a few small seabass and a huge eel.

Well it started thundering and the girls wanted to get closer to shore so we headed to Russels to finish the day. Stopped by the third lump to try to catch a bluefish but found no love there. We did get two more nice tog at Russels before the storm hit. Got a free boat washing on the way in!!!!!

We ended up placing in the Flounder, Sea Bass and Tog calcuttas. So it was a good tournment for us. Its a fun tournament that can be fished by anybody in any size boat.

Oh yea!! Congrats to Will Kennington for his 6.8 pound flounder!!!! Will is 8 years old and is one heck of a fisherman already so watch out for his name in the next few years!!

I was part of Team Black Bart running out of Lewes for the OC Small Boat Tournament. We chose Saturday for our fishing day. We made our way out of RI around 3:15am headed for the hambone. Water was smooth, not sure what NOAA was thinking when preparing the forecast?

We saw lots of life with turtles and birds feeding. We set up the spread and were waiting to fill the box.

We spent some time there and efforts came up short. Made the call to run further. Picked up, and dropped the hammer to the Baltimore.

First 1/2 hour into the troll the lines pop and three little bonitas. Set everything back up and keep on working. Next we here the clicker on the PENN start to sing the happy song!

    What could it be???

After clearing the lines and some excitement it is Mr YFT!

After a couple high fives - WE WANT MORE!!! Set the lines out again and circled back... About 20 minutes into the troll one line breaks free, a second line breaks free, and a THIRD line breaks free. LET'S DANCE!!!!!! No more YFT, but BFT had shown up.

Checked the weather on saw a very large storm in the Chesapeake area and decided not press our luck. We went all day with no rain or storms and there were fish in the box. Pick up & clean up, put on the rain gear as we knew we were going to have to run thru it. Turn & burn back to Lewes. We could see the fog coming as we approached the 50 mile mark. We were lucky and only had to run through about 30 minutes of rain.

Cruised thru RI with the Tuna flags flying high!!!

    Great day!!!

    Mako on the troll

Fished on the "Odd Couple" (32 Regulator) with Pat Svehla and Bill Fenwick on Saturday.
Started in 500 fathoms SE of the Washington looking for Tuna and Dolphin. The left short popped and nothing, the left long went, dropped it back and came tight on a 154 # Mako.
One other run off and that was our day.
Nice day on the ocean except for the squall we went through. 40 knot wind, driving rain and lightnig so close we "felt it".
The Mako took the shark division.

Hey Al...Mark does awsome on the deer. He did one of Wil's a couple years ago...Some dang good cheese and pepper filled venison hotdogs.

What a rough weather day in the bay on Sunday we had on Popsy's Pontoon"Aka Senor Cigar". Finally managed to find some keeper flounder with Wil hooking the biggest of the year for us so far.

Also, heard the Ake Marine Flounder Pounder tourney was canceled this year. It was supposed to be this weekend and we where looking forward to it. Anybody have some info on this?
