OCMC Kids Classic - 13yr old Shelby and her First blue Marlin!

Got the invite to fish Capt Howard and Josh on the Predator this weekend for the OCMC Kids Tournament. This is always one of my favorite tournaments of the year to be a part of. Well the predator has some mechanical issue. Capt Josh Rusky and the Owner of the Crush Em were nice enough to allows us to take their boat. So our crew along with Capt Josh went out deep in the Poormans. We had a nice 300lb blue marlin jump clear out of the water 10ft behind our dredge and miss everything. He moved to the short rigger, faded and never came back.

Later in the day had another Blue Marlin come in and sniff at every bait, teaser and dredge before settling in on the left short dink bait. Mate Josh hooked him and got 13 yr old shelby in the chair with the 20 tyrnos and 350lb blue marlin on the other end.

Shelby was like a seasoned pro on the rod and we had the release in 8 minutes. She fought him for another 30 minutes trying to get some pics of the fish but as luck would have it the fish only jumped too far for pics and the 80lb leader parted when josh grabbed the leader for the second time.

Congrats to Shelby on her 3rd place Blue marlin. What a great fish for a great young lady.

I say he missed the blue. I was on the bridge and saw the jump from the start. but Josh said he probably came up on the green because of the direction of the jump. But he def. jumped behind the blue. But really who in the hell knows. We could have just run over him, woke him and that was just his way of telling us how pissed off he was that we woke him up...........but i doubt it
