Ocean City, MD Offshore Report 7-25-2008
Large bluefin tuna continue to provide excellent action for anglers fishing the hambone, chicken bone, the tea cup ,sausauges, and the Hotdog. Chunkers have begun to pick up bluefin now on the parking lot. Bluefins of 202 lbs ,188, 177, 166 lbs have been some of the larger tunas.
Anglers venturing off to the canyons have found yellowfins on a regular basis.
The Hot Dog was hot for Mahi today, with several charters landing 20-40 fish each. A few wahoo in the 60lb range have shown in the hotdog area as well.
Scattered white marlin catches have been reported especially at the Norfolk Canyon where it was reported that a well known OC charter boat release six Whites today.
The Marlin Bite should start heating up. I am having flashbacks of our first fish of 2006 below and hope to get another big girl soon:

The White Marlin Open is Ten days away. Should be a good time and hopefully, a great bite. Don't forget your circle hook rigs this year during the tournaments. We have pallets of Baitmasters in stock at the OC store.
Butterfly jigging is the hot topic right now with many customers cleaning out our stock in both stores recently. Don't worry, we have new stock coming in all the time.
Here is the 3-day consolidated water temp chart which shows plenty of warm water throughout the MD/DE coast.

I think Admin is going to let me have this space
I don't know how many OC boats are marlin fishing and no one does it better than the Billfisher, but looking at the SST shot I don't see any features in the Norfolk that look better than the area from Poormans down to the Rock Pile and out to 461.

Any news?

fish
If you find the bait, you will find the fish. Plain and simple. Water temp doesn't matter.

Great report Keith.
Keep them coming, I look forward to seeing what's been going on, and it's nice not to have to search elsewhere for it.

Crab mustard is good
Whites have been in the area just south of the norfolk for over a week now. There have been a couple days of really just good fishing in there with cutting fish and birds working bait balls.
Whats this with the yellowfins. How far south are they being caught?
