I am down a the OC shop putting up signs and re-setting the store so I am getting some good info from the best fishermen in OC. The full time charter operators are exploring different spots with success and it appears the tuna have infiltrated the areas reachable from Ocean City Inlet.
There is a huge gulf stream eddy twirling and pushing west off the coast of Maryland, NJ. I am confident if this eddy reaches the canyons it will be game on for the big game hunters out of OC - If the wind will stay down.
The Parking Lot, Wilmington Canyon, Hot Dog, Washington Canyon, Masseys, Lumpy Bottom and the Rockpile produced good catches over the last three days.
Wednesday:
"Marli" went to the Parking Lot today and caught 2 yellowfins and 6 bluefin tunas 4 of which they released.
Brian Cook and Jeff Knarr on the "Fortune Cookie" caught 2 bluefin tunas, measuring 44 and 53 inches, while fishing at the Lumpy Bottom. The 53 incher weighed in at 82 lbs. They also caught a couple of dolphin in the Washington Canyon.
"Captain Bob" trolled up a 46 pound cobia on a Green Machine at the Hot Dog and caught some BFT as well. The fish was weighed at the OC shop.
A private boat came in with a YFT and went 1-4 on white marlin at the Wilmington Canyon.
