Ocean City Marlin Club Fishing Committee

This is a general post for all the OCMC members on this site, and for any of you folks that fish in the club tournaments.

There is a Fishing Committee meeting this weekend. We don't have room for the masses at this meeting, but if you have something you feel incredibly strongly about we could make some time for you, and if you have any general suggestions post em up here or PM me and I will get it on the agenda. (the meeting is 11 am saturday- which I think is about an hour before a good Rockfishing tide )

There are a couple of other SFC members on the committee, including Squiddy Bill and Al Rittmeyer (not sure of your board name, or how to spell your last name either, sorry Al) and a couple of lurkers too, so post up any thoughts you have and we will get them in there.

I would especially welcome any feedback from The Cape May Marlin and Tuna Club guys as the Challenge Cup is a great event every year.

I would like to request for the Challenge Cup to be turned into a week long ,fish 3 out of 5 day tournament.

Justin, can you not get over the fact that I used to live in NJ

Whitey, I will definitely mention it, I think the logistics of that are going to be tough, although the fun factor would be phenominal. We used to have a week long tourney (what we now refer to as the Labor Day, which is really the Ocean City Marlin Club White Marlin Tournament) and interest really dropped over the years, which is why we switched it to a 2 of 3 event. Alot of people do not know it, but the challenge cup used to be alternated year to year- fish from OC one year, fish from CM the next, but that too changed to keep interest up.

Franky............I'll be at the meeting Saturday morning................we changed the Challenge Cup to OC only when I was on the board. The thinking was that the good fishing was always south (Poormans south down the line) so what was the point of running from Cape May, especially since it cut into the evenings festivities and the Cape may guys enjoyed coming down. Back then, the whole tourney was based out of Harbor Island.

Everyone from our club looks forward to comming down every year. Your clubhouse and camaraderie are second to none.

The Challenge cup is a great weekend....you would lose more then 3/4 of the boats going to a week long event. Not all the cape may boats work for Daddy like mr whitey here. LOL.The weekend deal is a GREAT long weekend...just put a request in for 2 good weather days Franky. You guys do a great job and put on a GREAT event.

It was a joke John. I don't think my liver could handle another week of that much drinking so close to the WMO and MA 500.
