Where in the article did it say anything about alcohol being involved.Seems like every time someone f-ups people want to jump on the oh my god they had to be drunk bandwagon. So far it's a sad mistake and luckily they were okay.

Read the last line it clearly says alcohol was a contributing factor in the accident.

A 34-foot sport fisherman boat named “Anger Management” crashed into the rock jetty that extends east from the tip of Assateague Island National Seashore on July 7th. Investigation revealed the boat was under full power and travelling in excess of 24 knots, or 27 mph, when it slammed into the rocks. The impact created two large holes in the hull and the boat quickly sank. Both occupants were able to “abandon ship” by scurrying onto the rocks. Injuries were non-life threatening and mostly limited to facial injuries to the boat’s captain. U.S. Coast Guard responded and plucked both boaters from the rocks. Within hours the crashing waves reduced the boat to pieces against the rocks. The fuel tank was ripped from the wreckage and cast onto the jetty. Any fuel remaining in the tank was quickly dissipated by wave action; responding rangers found minimal environmental impacts from the wreck. Complex salvage operations were begun on July 9th by Tow Boat US. Much debris continues to wash ashore onto Assateague Island. Recovery efforts have been complicated by existing nesting shorebird closures in the area. Investigators from the National Park Service, Maryland Natural Resources Police and the U.S. Coast Guard are coordinating investigative and recovery efforts. Alcohol was a contributing factor in the accident.
