    Ocean City Catch Report 7-20-2008

Sitting near Santa Barbara, CA right now, but here is a report from the guys in the OC shop:

Large BFT continue to provide excellent action for anglers fishing Massey’s canyon, Hambone, the Teacup, Chickenbone, the Sausages, and also this weekend the Parking lot has produced BFT. YFT action finally has improved for anglers fishing outside the Hotdog and deep waters the West Wall of the Baltimore Canyon. Mixed in with the YFT have been some of the season’s first Wahoo action, YFT are in the 40-60lb class. The Charter boat Mojo out of the Ocean city Fishing Center took the top fish in the Cape May tuna Tournament with 202lb BFT.

Tropical Strorm Cristobal is skirting the Carolinas and its projected path might hold back the fishing for a few days, however, it has been my experience after large storms the fishing changes, and for the better in most cases.

After what I think was hurricane Isabel in 2003, we went out the the 50 fathom line and did great. The fishing prior to that storm was spotty at best. Here was our catch. We tagged and released a good number of dolphin for a migratory study out of South Carolina.

Vertical jigging is becoming popular with the offshore crowd with Bill Pino aboard the Squidnation.com boat scoring on some nice tunas recently.

Here is the Sunset Marina report from Saturday:

"Osprey" caught a bluefin at the Hambone. "Muff Diver" caught a 166 lb bluefin and released another 6 and also caught a dolphin at the Hambone. "Zipper" caught a 172 lb bluefin at the Hambone. "Fin-Ness" caught a bluefin and a yellowfin at the Hambone. "Trouble Maker" caught a bluefin, a golden tilefish a dolphin and released 2 white marlin. "Cyntinory" caught 2 dolphin and a yellowfin at the Poorman's. "Clear Shot" caught a bluefin and a yellowfin at the Hambone. "Billfisher" caught several dolphin and released a blue marlin at the Norfolk. "Marlin Magic" caught a yellowfin at the Hot Dog.

    Friday's Report:

"Muff Diver" caught 5 bluefin, keeping one that weighed in at 221 lbs while fishing the Hot Dog. "Osprey" caught 2 bluefin at the Hot Dog. "Shelly II" caught a bluefin and a yellowfin at the Hambone. "Marlin Magic" caught a dolphin, released 5 bluefin and kept one at the chicken bone. "Cyntinory" released 3 bluefin and kept one at the Hambone. "Sea Wolf" caught 4 yellowfin and a dolphin at the Baltimore. "Marli" released 5 bluefin and kept two that weighed in at 215 lbs and 168 lbs, and a 50 lb yellowfin just east of the Hambone.

    Thursday's Report:

The "Osprey" came in today with 1 bluefin and 1 longfin from the Hot Dog. "Marli" went to the Hambone and caught 6 bluefins and released 5 of them and also caught 1 dolphin. "Marilyn Sue" caught a bluefin and a yellowfin at the Elephants Trunk. "Seafood Searcher" caught a bluefin at the Hambone. "Oasis" caught a bluefin and a dolphin at the Elephants Trunk.

Why do you copy sunsets report all the time. I think this might be copyright infringement.

In alltackles defense, he did state it is Sunsets Report before posting it...looks like a proper citation to me, but at the end of the day it is nothing more than redundancy that provides folks a report if they never been to sunset marinas web page or haven't had time to visit it.

It is good for everybody in Ocean City fishing market to spread the news on how good the fishing is right now. Sorry if I offended you.

They do a nice job of putting together a report. I wouldn't have seen it if it were not here. Thanks Alltackle for putting it up, as an example of what a great report can be if nothing else.
