OC Tuna Tourney protest???
Heard rumblings of a protest being filed. Anyone know any details?

I will PM you the details, as the good name of a good man has already been dragged through the mud enough. I beleive the lie detector is being adminsitered today, and then the real story will be known. (I have heard both sides, and actually trust both the parties involved so I don't know where I stand or what to believe).

Franky, I thought that was done Monday the 16th at 9:00am?? I received a mass e-mail from Jen at the fishing center and assumed it was final. Yes, I do agree with you about a good man being drug through the mud...

Bite me
I came in fourth place and don't want to move up for any of this BS. In my opinion there should be no protest he's a good guy always looking to help somebody out and that's enough for me to trust him.
I would like the extra money though

Anthony's Ark is a blowboater
I'm with you Joe, I would also like the extra money, but this isn't the way to earn it. I don't know the captain in question but if you and Franky say he's a good guy, then he's a good guy.

I have known this for quite a while, but I am going to state it here. Lance and Joey are class acts. Congrats on both of your tournaments guys.

Team Canada Rocks!
Franky - I did not attend the capt's meeting because I was in the booth. what was stated concerning pulling a fish on board. was is "you cannot pull a tuna on board for measurement and release" or was it "you cannot not pull a bluefin on board for measurement and release".
In my opinion you can be the greatest guy in the world and still make a mistake. The protest system is their for a reason. A mistake would not relieve you of being disqualified. I also spoke to the protested person and believe what he says. So it really comes down to what was said at the capt's meeting.

2nd hand info says that the point is moot as the folks in question passed the polygraph, I do not know this for fact, however.
As I remember it, Gowar said you can't pull bluefins in the boat to measure them.
We all need to put our heads together and come up with a better suggestion for the committee for next year, as having to measure a curved fork length in the water is assinine, ludicrous, and any multitude of other dumbass descriptives I can come up with. And the really sad part is a whole host of people fishing the tourney still did it, cause they did not go to the meeting,a nd did not know the rule.

Well can someone give us the story as to what happened and the out come of it so we are not guessing at what happened? Who cares who did it just what was done so we don’t make the same mistake in the future.

The OCTT (at least this year) implemented a rule that stated Bluefin tuna had to be measured in the water. Fished could not be pulled into the boat and measured. Nor could a fish that was boated be returned to the water. I guess the rules committee sort of redifined culling as I understand it.
Culling is strictly forbidden.
One of the boats that finished in the money was reportedly seen by the protesting boat pulling a bluefin into the boat, measuring it, and returning it to the water.
I was told by another Captain that this has all been cleared by the polygraph.
If anyone on this board can give me an accurate way of measuring a curved fork length with the fish in the water, please post it. And I mean accurate enough to differentiate between 46 and 48 inches. I routinely pull fish through my transom door, measure and either keep or release them. I watch it done with Giants in MHC on a regular basis. For the life of me, I can't figure out why the committee would not allow this practice in the tourney.
