OC MD Blue Marlin 8-30

headed out to the rockpile on sat. caught 20+ dolphin. most on 10 lb. test spinning gear. biggest were 15 lbs.

had one brown white marlin come out from under the ball when we were trolling. he kept trying to grab the blue marlin bait and i kept pulling it away because it is very hard to hook them on it. we executed a perfect bait and switch and put a naked ballyhoo in right in front of him but he would not eat. he was in the baits for about 5 mins. we also saw one free jumping white marlin...

we were pulling the lines out of the water and something grabs the teaser. yank it away and the center line goes off. drop back..... GOT HIM! I called blue marlin right when he jumped but he did not look very big... got him to the leader and it turns out he was a little blue. est. about 80 lbs.

he put on a great show greyhounding right at the boat.... to bad i did not get that on video.

well here is the video. will post pictures and another video later.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FB3MjrYJYYs

i will upload it to sf later.... for now it is on utube. maybe someone could help get it on this post....

it very well could have been a big white. prob around eighty pounds....

it did have a pretty distinct pointed fin... and for its size it was short and fat.

not long like a white that size. here are some pictures....

o and another thing...

after being hooked for about half an hour. we got the double line and it started grey hounding straight away from the boat...not a typical thing on a white which has been hooked for half an hour.

could have been a crazy big white. will not get offended.

it was still a great billfish!
