After eyeing the warm water pushing in south of the Poormans, we made a late decision to fish the inshore lumps looking for a big bluefin for the Marlin Club Small Boat Tournament. Had my usual crew onboard and one first timer. Started a little south of Masseys at lines in and worked our way north. Picked up a small dolphin east of Masseys in about 25 fathoms. Worked our way up to the 'canyon' and boated a small bluefin just south of the tip. After playing in the zoo of boats for a while, we headed south with the intention of working the bones and on down the sausages. After a few cover ups from blue fish (they were everywhere!) and some throwback bluefin, we picked up and headed to just outside the hot dog in 35 fathoms. Found more blue fish and one gaffer dolphin (19.5 lbs). Never found the big bluefin but put some meat on the boat and had steady action all day.
No pictures of the catch this time...but below is what a Pirates ass looks like![]()
