Who are the lunatics that voted for this moron?![]()
Bert,
Whether the FED's should or should not open up offshore leases is immaterial for purposes of my discussion here, as it was debated adnausium here on SFC during the election.
My question is this: is my memory correct that Obama changed his position on offshore drilling during the campain?-- as I recall, he clearly stated he would support off shore drilling in the later stages of his campain.
If my memory is correct, I have a major problem with this annoucement by the Interior Dept., as this was a very important issue to many voters who may have voted for Obama based on his promised "new" support for off shore drilling.
Maybe my memory on this campaign issue is not correct, I don't know.![]()

Glenn it's really not about campaign lies I mean promises at this point. It's about his alegences too agenda driven idelogies takeing precedence to sound energy and fiscal policy that looks towards the future good of the country.
Right now the Saudies and Hugo Chaves are celebrating big time.
But you know that.
Bert
Glenn W,
You have to parse his words from the latter part of the campaign carefully. What he said was "he would look at the drilling issue again and reconsider allowing offshore drilling". Well, my guess is he, or his dopey environmental staff did "look at it", and then decided again they were not for doing it. This is the oldest political trick in the book. He has used that phrase for a number of other things. SInce he first did it, any time I listen to him speak I'm on the alert for that phrase, it is meaningless, but it does trick alot of people into thinking he cares about their side of an issue when he really has no intentions of coming to their side.

Left oar, Thanks for the clarification
Wow…I really despise politics, but this is all just so troubling.
I'm not sure I agree with you Bert. We all know that polititions break campaign promises (for a variety of reasons). My concern in this thread was if Obama blatently misguided voters in 2008 with a campaign of clear support for off-shore drilling---which was a major issue for the election. Apparently, my memory was incorrect in that Obama kind of skirted the issue (fair enough then).
I may respectfully disagree with policies and positions when there is a fundamental difference in opinion as to the Public good (and the perceived public good is the core of both positions), I cannot respect, or tolerate premeditated fraud however. It would appear that Obama gave hmself enough wiggle room to not be accused of such premeditated fraud in this instance, so please ignore my posts on this thread.
