    Oahu Late May

Is it worth fishing in Oahu in late May? What is running then?

    Thanks

    Usually...

The ahi (YFT over 100#) and ono (wahoo) are biting pretty well off Oahu by the end of May, but every year varies slightly. The big (200 boat) Ahi Fever Jackpot tournament is run in June (Father's day) every year from Oahu's Waianae Harbor. Good luck if you go fishing; keep in mind it's not catching, and talk with your captain beforehand so you know the boat's policy on any fish caught.

    Not sure anymore

    I fished with

Magic sportfisihng in May. Capt Russell Tanaka. Really nice guy and the best capt in Oahu in my eyes. Caught 5 nice Mahi to 40#lbs., 3 wahoo, 1 short nose spearfish, a white tip shark, missed a blue marlin, and missed another spearfish. Pretty eventful day with lots of bites.
