Jon Schwartz Sailfish Fishing Photo, Guatemala

Hi guys Jon Schwartz here. This photo is a cover shot of a sailfish I took in Guatemala. The fishing there was outstanding- think 20-40 nice-sized sail releases per day! That certainly helped increase the odds of a hack like me getting a decent photo or two during my stay!

I'm not entering this in the contest because it's too late and I've
seen so many other killer shots in this thread, but I wanted to share it, because ever since I climbed out of the water and looked at it through the viewfinder in my underwater housing, it's been one of my favorites. Until it was published last week, I haven't been able to show it to anyone because the mags require that the images are kept under wraps, so it's fun to be able to share it now after 11 months.

I actually wrote an article about my visit to Guatemala and if anyone is curious, here is the link.
http://www.bluewaterjon.com/articles.htm
If you go there you'll also see an article that was published recently in Marlin Magazine about a cool fishing adventure I had in Nicaragua, one of the last untamed fishing frontiers left in the Americas.
Take care guys,
Jon Schwartz

DID DAVID GRANVILLE TAKE THAT SHOT? HE SPENT SOME TIME WITH US DOING A GIANT ARTICAL BACK IN 1998. BLUEWATER IS STILL AN AUSTRAILIAN MAG, RIGHT?

Here is my favorite. 81" fish killed off of Holden Beach last season. My wife and daughter met us at the fish house. It was the first time Emma had seen a fish this big, and the beautiful sky and my baby's smile really made the pic for me.

re:

fat2na,
Hi this is Jon Schwartz. If your question was directed for me ( ie- who took that picture?). If the question was for me, the answer is, no David G did not take that cover shot of the sailfish release. I took it last year in Guatemala. Tim Simpson is now the editor of Bluewater Boats, and yes it is still an Australian based magazine.
Tell you what though, if you're still doing giant bluefin fishing, I'd love to do an article about it!
Cheers,
Jon Schwartz
