Made the trip out to the Norfolk Satuday on board Oblivion. It was COLD but the ride out was nice. Very nice temp break of 52-67 degrees with lots of rips, bait and other signs of life (Porpoises, whales - breached 20ft alongside us while trolling), hammerheads). We fished mainly from 80-200 fathoms and could only managed multiple Fat Albert ambushes although we did hook a 200 pound class mako on an Ilander but the hook pulled. No bite off, just a pulled hook. One other nice screamer on the planer but it pulled as well. We worked from just south of the Canyon into the deep tip then picked up and ran south to the 380 line in the afternoon...no joy.
Long day out there but it was a pretty wild adventure. Seas were pretty nice all day...ride in was especially nice.
