Just an FYI, there's a guy going around trying to start a tournament called Beast of The East. He contatcted me last week via phone and asked if we would be a weigh station for his tournament that would encompass the whole NJ coast and run the month of August. He said it would be for all offshore species Shark, Marlin, and Tuna. I asked him if he had a permit from NMFS and he didn't know what I was talking aboutI told him to send me the info in an email and I would look it over and as long as it was a legitimate tournament we would sign on. Well, never got the email, but today he stopped by while I was out and dropped off the brochures? On his paperwork they have us listed as a weigh station. Also, the tourney is heaviest fish takes all, $5000 dollar entry
, $300,000 prize with a minimum of 75 boats and cap of 100. No other prizes, no banquet, nothing. Wheres the other $200,000? I don't know if this is a scam or if this guy just that naive. The point to this is
HINCH MARINA & OFF THE HOOK BAIT & TACKLE have NO affiliation with the BEAST OF THE EAST TOURNAMENT, and if you are thinking about entering this event please be cautious with your money!
